Many of us have become dependent, to a greater or lesser degree, on computers for the way we run large parts of our lives. When they break down or become infected with a virus or other malware, we need immediate service to get us back online. I keep up to date with the latest threats some people seem to enjoy imposing on us and use the best tools to clean systems up after infection and also help to prevent future attacks. I provide a service seven days week from nine in the morning until nine at night. I cover an eighty square mile area encompassing Milton Keynes and surrounding country areas and I have a current Enhanced CRB Check. For the public, I have a notional hourly rate of £40.00 and this applies to the first hour including call-out. My corporate rate is variable and negotiable. However, I don’t own a stop-watch and a job is only worth what it’s worth so I frequently charge according to the work involved rather than on a strict time basis. Malware clean ups are better dealt with in a secure network on my own premises because of the time scans take to run so unless they involve a deep-rooted and well-hidden Rootkit, the fixed costs for such work is £50. I carry out hardware repairs on all desktop PCs and some laptops and when replacement parts are required, I acquire them on a customer’s behalf and charge at cost including carriage to me, where charged. That way, you keep the invoice and that is your guarantee if the new part should fail because although I guarantee my work I cannot guarantee to be alive long enough to return a faulty part. If I am, I will come back and replace it. My landline is covered by an answering machine but if you catch me on the hoof on my mobile, it might be possible to divert straight to you.
